B1213Ford PATS fewer than minimum programmed keys

Universal diagnostic code. Below: what it means, common causes, symptoms, and the exact bench-programming fix path.

Common causes

  • Failed dealer key-programming attempt
  • Used PCM with single-key table
  • Battery dropout during key programming reset
  • Mid-procedure interruption

Symptoms you'll see

  • Cranks but won't start
  • THEFT warning
  • B1213 active
  • Can't complete the PATS reset procedure

The fix path

Dealer can re-run the 2-key minimum programming procedure ($150-300). Or Ford PATS Delete ($199) removes the requirement entirely — any key works after.
