P1570Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer

BMW diagnostic code. Below: what it means, common causes, symptoms, and the exact bench-programming fix path.

Common causes

  • Failed EWS module (E36/E39/E46/E53 chassis)
  • Failed CAS module (2006-2012 chassis)
  • Damaged key transponder
  • EWS-DME pairing data corrupted
  • Aftermarket alarm interfering with immobilizer wiring

Symptoms you'll see

  • Engine cranks normally but won't start
  • Engine starts for 1-2 seconds then dies
  • EWS warning light on dashboard
  • Other paired keys also fail

The fix path

Diagnose whether DME, EWS/CAS module, or key transponder is the failure. For EWS-era cars (E36/E39/E46/E53), BMW DME EWS Delete is usually the cheapest correct fix. For CAS-era (2006-2012), BMW CAS Key Programming or used-CAS virginize. For 2013+ F-chassis, BMW FEM/BDC Key Programming.
