Why Missouri customers mail in advanced ecu / module recovery

Missouri has roughly 5 million registered vehicles, and trucks, SUVs & imports make up much of what Kansas City-area shops and owners mail us. Do you accept advanced ecu / module recovery modules from Missouri?
Yes — we receive modules from Kansas City, St. Louis, Springfield, Columbia and the rest of Missouri regularly. With about 5 million registered vehicles statewide, trucks, SUVs & imports are the bulk of what we see from Missouri.
Is there a advanced ecu / module recovery shop in Kansas City I should use instead?
Most Kansas City shops don't keep the bench equipment for advanced ecu / module recovery — they'd forward the module to a specialist anyway, which adds a markup and a middleman. Going direct to us is usually faster and cheaper. Regional north — 1-2 days each way.
Does Missouri vehicle inspection or emissions testing affect this service?
Missouri requires a safety inspection for many vehicles and emissions testing in the St. Louis metro area. Our service is bench module programming only — you remain responsible for your vehicle's compliance with all Missouri and federal requirements.
My module is completely dead — is recovery even possible?
Often, yes. "Dead" usually means the board can't power up or answer, not that the data is gone. We repair damaged power supplies and tracks with board-level micro-soldering to bring the unit back, and where the processor itself is destroyed we read the memory chip directly — in-circuit or chip-off — to extract the identity and calibration data. It isn't guaranteed on every unit, which is why we evaluate first.
How is this different from a normal clone?
A standard clone needs a readable original: we power it up, read it, and write a donor. This service is the tier above that — for units that WON'T power up or respond, so a normal clone is impossible. We add board repair and direct chip-level memory reads to recover the data first, then transfer it. That's also why it's priced higher than a straight clone: it's more work, with real bench time before any data comes off.
