Best for

Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • No-start on a 9-3 traced to a failed CIM immobilizer
  • Alarm going off, central locking dead, or lighting faults from a failed TWICE
  • Used TWICE or CIM installed and it won't work until it matches the car
  • Water- or electrically-damaged TWICE/CIM that still powers up — clone it before it dies
  • You want your original module's data carried onto a healthy donor unit
  • Keeping an orphaned-brand Saab running with no dealer support left

Won't fix:

  • Does not add a key to a working module — that is our Saab CIM key-programming service
  • Does not include the donor module — you source a matching unit (we verify the part number first)
  • Does not clone a TWICE/CIM that is internally dead or unreadable — there is no data to copy
  • Does not repair the module hardware, steering-lock, or ignition switch itself
  • Does not fix a no-start caused by fuel, spark, battery, starter, or wiring faults
  • Does not repair the alarm siren, door actuators, or lighting hardware
  • Does not bypass proof of ownership — required for immobilizer work

Saab has no dealer left — that's why this is a clone job

Saab wound down years ago, so there is no factory support and no dealer scan tool that will initialize a fresh TWICE or CIM to your 9-3. That leaves owners stranded when one of these modules fails — the car won't start, or the alarm and locks stop behaving. Cloning is the way out: ship us the failed module and a matching used donor, and we copy your original's data onto it on the bench so it installs plug-and-play, with your existing keys still working on a CIM clone. This is different from our Saab CIM key-programming service, which adds keys to a module that already works — here we're replacing a dead module by cloning. A dead or unreadable original can't be cloned, and the donor must match by part number. Proof of ownership is required for any immobilizer work, and the customer is responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal law.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

Verify first: text or email us your VIN plus photos of your original module's part-number label and the donor's label (and proof of ownership) — a technician confirms the part numbers match and which module you actually need cloned before you ship. Then send both units (original + donor) to PO Box 120241, Arlington TX 76012 if you ship USPS — or 1009 Oakwood Ln # 120241, Arlington TX 76012 if you ship UPS or FedEx (UPS and FedEx cannot deliver to a PO Box). We clone on the bench, test communication, and ship everything back via the return option you pick at checkout (Standard $24.95, UPS 2-Day $54.95, or UPS overnight $94.95).

What to include in your box

  • Your original Saab TWICE or CIM (if it powers up — this is the clone path) AND the matching donor module
  • Year, make, model, and engine (e.g. 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero 2.8L V6)
  • VIN of the vehicle
  • The part number off BOTH module labels (we pre-verify the match)
  • Which module you need: TWICE (alarm/locking/lighting) or CIM (immobilizer/keys)
  • What is wrong now: no-start, alarm fault, central-locking dead, lighting fault, etc.
  • Proof of ownership (title, registration, or bill of sale)
  • Your name, return address, and phone number

Frequently Asked

Still have a question? Text us — replies in minutes.

What's the difference between TWICE and CIM?
On the Saab 9-3, the TWICE (Theft Warning Integrated Central Electronics) runs the alarm, central locking, and lighting, while the CIM (Column Integration Module) on the steering column holds the immobilizer and key data. A no-start usually points at the CIM; alarm, locking, or lighting faults usually point at the TWICE. We help you confirm which you need before you ship.
How is this different from your Saab CIM key-programming service?
That service adds keys to a CIM that already works. This service clones a failed TWICE or CIM onto a donor unit so a replacement drops in plug-and-play — it's for when the module itself has died, not for adding a key. If your module works and you only need a key, order the CIM key-programming service instead.
Why can't a dealer just program a new module?
Saab is an orphaned brand with no factory support, so there's no dealer path to initialize a fresh TWICE or CIM to your car. Cloning your original's data onto a matching donor is the practical way to replace a dead module and keep the 9-3 on the road.
Do you supply the donor module?
No — you source a matching used TWICE or CIM (salvage yard, Saab specialist, or parts recycler) and we verify compatibility before you buy or ship anything. Match the part number on the label as closely as possible; send us photos of both labels plus your VIN and a technician confirms the pair will work.
My original module is completely dead — can you still help?
Cloning needs a readable original to copy from. If yours doesn't power up or respond, there's no data to clone. In some cases a virgin-EEPROM unit can be prepared instead — contact us with your VIN, symptoms, and photos and we map what's possible before you ship anything.
Will my existing keys still work after a CIM clone?
Yes — because the donor CIM takes on your original's immobilizer identity, the keys already matched to your car keep working. This is not an immo delete or security bypass, and proof of ownership is required before any immobilizer work begins.
Do you cover the Saab 9-5?
The 9-3 (2003–2011) is the primary coverage here. The 9-5 uses different electronics depending on the generation, so we handle it case-by-case — send your VIN and module label photos and we'll tell you honestly whether yours is a candidate before you ship.
How much is it and how does the mail-in work?
It is $250 flat. After a technician verifies your VIN and both module part labels, you ship the units to Auto Module Lab. We clone on the bench, test communication, and ship everything back with tracking — return speed your choice at checkout (Standard $24.95, UPS 2-Day $54.95, or UPS overnight $94.95).
