Before you order

A clone copies what is in your module.
We transfer the data as we read it. If another shop or tool already worked on the module — an unfinished clone, a tune, a delete — that data can come across too. Tell us before you ship.
What "plug-and-play" means.
No dealer programming should be needed when your original data is intact, the donor matches your module (same type, hardware and software family) and the rest of the car works. It isn't a promise that the car will start or run.
Second-hand Smart ECU? It won't start the car until it's cloned
The Smart Fortwo engine ECU carries immobilizer and VIN data locked to the car it came from, so a used unit from another Smart cranks yours but never fires. The dealer answer is a new ECU at prices that make no sense on a car this size. The bench answer is this service: if your original still powers up and responds, we copy its complete immobilizer and VIN identity onto the donor so the car can't tell the difference. Smart is Mercedes-owned but runs its own architecture, so this is a distinct service from big-Mercedes FBS coding. On some 451 systems the ECU is married to the ignition switch — a technician tells you before you ship whether a clone alone is enough or whether the ignition and a working key need to come too. Proof of ownership is required for any immobilizer-related work.
