AML wins when:
- ✓One-off mail-in job and you need it back on your bench quickly
- ✓You need warranty + accountability (shop liability requires it)
- ✓The job is more complex than a "plug-and-play" eBay listing implies (most aren't actually P&P)
- ✓You need a real human to call/text before AND after the work
- ✓You don't want to gamble on whether the eBay seller actually has the equipment
eBay sellers wins when:
- ✓You're a programmer yourself who only needs the part — eBay's used module + your own bench is cheapest
- ✓You're buying a module to keep on the shelf as a tested spare (not for active service work)
- ✓You already have a known-good seller relationship with a high-feedback specialist
Bottom line
For one-off mail-in jobs where you need accountability + warranty + speed, AML wins. For high-volume shops with their own bench tools who just need parts, eBay can win on raw part cost.
Frequently asked
Honest answers, no marketing fluff.
Aren't eBay sellers cheaper?
Headline price is lower but you pay shipping both ways. After round-trip shipping (~$22) and adding any return for warranty, total cost typically equalizes. AML's $150 includes return shipping, warranty, and 24-hour bench turnaround.
What if an eBay seller has 1,000+ feedback?
High feedback is a real signal — but most high-volume eBay sellers are dropshippers who outsource the bench work to third parties (sometimes overseas, sometimes to workshops like ours). Going direct skips the markup and the language barrier.
Does AML warranty programming or just hardware?
We warranty the PROGRAMMING work for 6 months. If our bench-programmed module fails to start the car after install due to our error, we re-do at no charge. Hardware faults of the underlying module are not covered (the module is yours either way).
