Remote Nissan & Infiniti Programming — CONSULT Sessions
The Altima that idles like it's angry
Fit a replacement ECM to a Nissan, start it, and meet the platform's signature complaint: a hunting, stalling idle on an engine with nothing wrong. Nissan ECMs learn their throttle-body's idle air volume, and a fresh module has not learned yours. The idle-air volume learn exists for exactly this — a procedure with famously strict preconditions (temperatures, loads, voltages in range) that fails silently when rushed.
It is the small, telling example of what this platform is like after a module swap: the part is a third of the job; the procedures are the rest. CONSULT III plus runs them, and a remote session puts CONSULT on your car without the subscription.
What a Nissan/Infiniti session covers
$150, booked on the Nissan/Infiniti session page:
- ECM / TCM / BCM programming — replacement programming and reflash where supported
- BCM and immobilizer registration where supported — part of marrying replacement modules in the security chain; support varies by year and system
- Idle-air volume learn and related relearns — run with the preconditions actually met
- Configuration writes the software exposes
Boundaries, plainly: supported procedures vary by vehicle, module and security requirements; NATS-era and newer security operations are gated on some years beyond what an OBD session reaches; refunded if the supported procedure can't be completed. Dead modules are bench candidates, not sessions — the standard triage applies.
Hardware fit
Nissan runs through the multi-brand RLink J2534 in our kits — import coverage is that device's whole purpose. Session checklist as always: battery maintainer, Windows laptop, stable internet, car parked and available for the relearn steps.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my replacement ECM stall the car? Almost always the unlearned idle-air volume. The learn procedure fixes it — run with its preconditions met, which is half the trick.
Can you register keys on my Nissan remotely? Where the year and system support it over OBD, registration runs in the session as part of module marriage. Plenty of years gate it. VIN first, straight answer before you pay.
Used BCM or ECM from a donor? Frequently married to the donor's security chain. Some combinations register cleanly; others need bench attention first. Ask before buying the part.
Infiniti too? Same platform, same software, same session, same price.
