Live session · car stays in your bay

Can't ship it?
We flash it in the car.

When the car has to stay drivable — or the module can't come out — you don't have to mail anything. Plug your own J2534 tool into the OBD-II port, and we drive the factory OE software over the internet on a live, scheduled session. Sessions from $100.

Remote sessions are run by ECU Flash Cartel, our sister lab — same operations center, same team. You book and pay on their scheduling page.

Ship it, or flash it in the car?

Two ways to get the same work done. Pick the one that fits the job — we run both.

Mail-in bench

Ship the module — Auto Module Lab programs it and sends it back plug-and-play. Best when:

  • The module is already out of the car, or easy to pull
  • All keys lost / cloning / virginizing a used module
  • A dead or bricked module that no longer talks on the bus
  • You want it back plug-and-play with nothing to set up

Live remote

The module stays in the car. Plug in your J2534 tool; we drive the OE software over the internet. Best when:

  • The car has to stay drivable — you can't leave it down for shipping
  • The module is buried or you'd rather not pull it
  • You already own a J2534 tool and a Windows laptop
  • You need it done today, on a scheduled live session

Works with the tool you already own

Most J2534 pass-thru devices bridge straight to the factory software. Three common paths:

Generic J2534 pass-thru

VCM3, GR8, MicroPod, KESS, AlexFlasher, VAS6154, DICE — anything OBD-II. Plug it into the car + your laptop; you install IgniteRemote and enter the setup code from your booking. To the OE software on our side it looks like a local USB device — and you approve every connection before it starts.

Autel MaxiFlash XLINK

Autel's own remote-programming product. You plug the XLINK into the car; we log into Remote Expert from our side and run the manufacturer tool through Autel's cloud. Best path for shops already on MaxiSys.

TOPDON RLink / RLink Lite

Standalone Android tablet. USB-share the VCI to a laptop or screen-share via TeamViewer, and we drive the OE software from our machine. No extra subscription; works anywhere your laptop has internet.

Not sure your device works with your platform? Check the full compatibility matrix — or start the booking form and we confirm by email before charging.

Remote programming FAQ

What's the difference between this and your mail-in service?
Mail-in (bench) is Auto Module Lab: you ship the module, we program it on the bench and send it back plug-and-play — best when the part is out or the car is down anyway. Remote flashing is a live session run by our sister lab, ECU Flash Cartel: the module stays in the car, you connect your own J2534 tool, and we drive the factory OE software over the internet. Sessions start at $100. Same operations center, same people — two ways to get the same work done.
What do I need on my end for a remote session?
A J2534 pass-thru device (generic VCM3/GR8/MicroPod/KESS, an Autel MaxiFlash XLINK, or a TOPDON RLink), a Windows laptop, a stable battery maintainer on the car, and internet at the vehicle. You plug the tool into the OBD-II port; we connect to it over IgniteRemote and run the manufacturer software from our side. The booking form confirms your exact device works with your platform before you pay.
How much does a remote session cost?
It's per platform: GM is $100; Ford, Nissan and Mazda are $150; Toyota/Lexus, VW/Audi, Volvo and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram are $250. You book a 30-90 minute slot, 9 AM-9 PM Central, and pay by Stripe. If the platform can't be completed, it's refundable.
What can you do in a remote session?
OE-level module reprogramming and coding: PCM/ECM reflash, module-replacement coding (a new module that needs programming to the car), calibration and OTA-style updates, as-built / parameter restore, and key/immobilizer programming where the platform allows it over OBD. If the job really needs the module on a bench — cloning, unlocking a locked module, recovering a bricked one — we tell you and switch you to the mail-in path.
My module is bricked / dead after a flash — can a remote session fix it?
Usually not remotely — if a module no longer boots or won't talk on the bus, there's nothing for the OE software to connect to over OBD, and it needs bench recovery instead. Ship it to us for the mail-in bench-recovery path. If it still communicates and only the calibration is bad, a remote reflash can often bring it back — the booking form triages which one you have.
Do you keep my tune / calibration?
A remote reflash writes the calibration you and we agree on — a factory OE file for a repair, or your own file if you have one. We do not provide emissions-defeat or delete calibrations. Immobilizer, security, coding, unlock and swap-prep work is in scope; DPF/EGR/cat-monitor deletes are not.
Is my device compatible?
Most J2534 pass-thru tools work because we reach them as a local USB device from the OE software. Autel XLINK and TOPDON RLink have their own remote paths. Check the full compatibility matrix before booking, or start the form and we confirm by email before charging — 100% refund if your device can't run your platform.
