Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • F-series swap where the EGS no longer matches the DME
  • Used EGS: car will not move, will not leave park, drivetrain faults
  • Transmission controller replaced and now security/integrity faults
  • Gearbox controller mismatch after an engine or trans swap

Won't fix:

  • Mechanical faults inside the 8HP gearbox or mechatronics
  • Key/immobilizer-only jobs — see the CAS/FEM key services
  • DME cloning by itself — see the DME ISN read service
  • Non-8HP transmissions — send the part number first

The other half of an F-series swap

Everyone doing an F-series drivetrain swap knows the DME has to match the CAS/FEM by ISN — fewer realize the EGS is in that security web too. A used 8HP controller that does not share the car's ISN leaves you with a car that starts but will not drive. Reading the ISN and cloning or aligning the EGS closes that gap. Pair it with our DME ISN read service and the whole drivetrain speaks the same secret.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

Ship the EGS, and the DME (or a working ISN source) so we can read and match it — plus a matched donor EGS if you want a clone. Text the VIN and part numbers first. Return shipping is selected and paid at checkout — Standard $24.95, UPS 2-Day $54.95, or UPS overnight $94.95. Ship to PO Box 120241, Arlington TX 76012 (USPS) or 1009 Oakwood Ln # 120241, Arlington TX 76012 (UPS/FedEx).

What to include in your box

  • The EGS transmission controller
  • The DME from the same car (the ISN source) — strongly recommended
  • A matched donor EGS if you want a clone (we verify first)
  • VIN + year, and a printed order confirmation
  • Your name, return address, and phone number

Frequently Asked

Still have a question? Text us — replies in minutes.

Why does a used EGS stop the car from moving?
On F- and G-series BMWs the EGS shares the car's ISN with the DME and immobilizer. A used controller carries a different ISN, so the drivetrain security check fails — the car may start but refuse to leave park or throw integrity faults. Reading the ISN and matching the EGS fixes that.
Do I need to send the DME too?
Strongly recommended — the DME is the cleanest ISN source, and sending it lets us read and match reliably. If you have another working ISN source, tell us; but for most jobs the DME riding along is what makes it straightforward.
Is this the same as your DME ISN service?
It is the companion. The DME ISN read handles the engine side of the security web; this handles the transmission (EGS) side. F-series swaps frequently need both, which is why they cross-reference each other.
Clone or align — what is the difference?
A clone copies your original EGS onto a matched donor (adaptations and identity carried over). An alignment writes the correct ISN into a replacement EGS so it agrees with your DME. Which one fits depends on what you are starting from — tell us and we route it.
