Will This Fix My Problem?

Why we need BOTH the DME and the CAS/FEM/BDC

The MEVD172 DME family stores an ISN (Individual Serial Number) that must match the ISN stored in the vehicle's CAS (pre-2013) or FEM/BDC (2013+). On an F-chassis BMW, we can't just write any ISN to the DME — we have to READ your specific CAS/FEM/BDC's stored ISN first, then write it to the donor DME. That's why we need both modules shipped together. After we're done, both modules go back to you and reinstall plug-and-play.

How is this different from your EWS Delete service?
EWS Delete is for pre-CAS BMW (E-chassis, MS41-MS45/ME 5.2-9.2/MSS50-70). It removes the immobilizer requirement entirely. This F-Series DME service is for 2011+ BMW with MEVD172 family DMEs — those cars have CAS/FEM/BDC, not EWS. We DON'T delete the immobilizer on F-chassis; we pair the donor DME's ISN to your CAS/FEM/BDC so the existing security chain works normally.
How is this different from FEM/BDC Key Programming?
FEM/BDC Key Programming is for ADDING or REPLACING a key (you have a working FEM/BDC + DME, you need another key). This DME service is for SWAPPING the DME (you have a used DME that needs its ISN updated to match your existing FEM/BDC). Different scenarios, different bench process.
Do I need to remove the CAS/FEM/BDC from my car?
Yes. We need to physically read the ISN from your CAS or FEM/BDC. Both modules are ship-and-return — back in your car in under a week.
What if the used DME is from a different model (e.g., 328i donor for my 335i)?
The MEVD172 family has sub-variants. A N20 DME won't run an N55 engine even after ISN match — engine code must match. Same engine, different vehicle is usually fine. Text us part numbers before shipping if unsure.
Will the donor DME's mileage transfer to my car?
No. DME mileage is informational; the cluster is the source of truth. Mileage discrepancy in the DME doesn't affect operation.
After the work, will the car still need a workshop coding session?
No. The ISN-matched DME is plug-and-play. Reinstall, start with your existing key, drive normally. No ISTA/E-Sys session required.
