Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • Used Fiat 500 ECU installed and the car cranks but will not start
  • Original engine ECU failed and a dealer replacement is quoted high
  • Immobilizer no-start after an ECU swap
  • No communication with the engine ECU and you have a donor ready to program
  • Legitimate repair on an orphaned platform where the security relationship is broken
  • You need a second-hand ECU made plug-and-play for your exact Fiat 500

Won't fix:

  • Does not include the donor ECU — you source a matching used unit (we verify the part number first)
  • Does not clone an original ECU that is internally dead or unreadable — there is no data to copy
  • Does NOT perform any emissions edits (DPF/EGR/catalyst/tune deletes) — this is immobilizer/identity work only
  • Does not fix a no-start caused by fuel, spark, sensors, wiring, or a dead battery
  • Does not repair the Body Computer (CODE) itself or the key/antenna ring
  • Does not repair mechanical engine or transmission damage
  • Does not bypass proof of ownership — required for immo-off work

Immo-off is for legitimate repair only — please read before ordering

This service has two lanes. Cloning copies your original ECU's immobilizer and VIN identity onto a matching donor so a used ECU installs plug-and-play with the factory security intact — that is the path for most used-ECU swaps. Immo-off turns the immobilizer function off inside the ECU, and it exists for legitimate repair situations: an orphaned platform, a broken security relationship, or a standalone/off-road use where the original system cannot be restored. Immo-off requires proof of ownership and is never performed to defeat theft protection on a vehicle you cannot document. This service does NOT perform emissions modifications of any kind — no DPF, EGR, catalyst, or tune deletes. A technician verifies your ECU by VIN and part label and confirms which lane your fault needs before you ship anything, and the customer is responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal law.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

Verify first: text or email us your VIN plus photos of your original ECU label and the donor's label (and proof of ownership) — a technician confirms the part numbers match and which path your fault needs before you ship. Then send both units (original + donor) for a clone, or the original alone for an immo-off, to PO Box 120241, Arlington TX 76012 if you ship USPS — or 1009 Oakwood Ln # 120241, Arlington TX 76012 if you ship UPS or FedEx (UPS and FedEx cannot deliver to a PO Box). We clone or immo-off on the bench, test communication, and ship everything back via the return option you pick at checkout (Standard $29.95, UPS 2-Day $54.95, or UPS overnight $94.95).

What to include in your box

  • Your original Fiat 500 ECU (if it powers up — this is the clone path) AND the matching donor ECU
  • Immo-off jobs: the original ECU (donor not required)
  • Year, make, model, and engine (e.g. 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth 1.4L T-Jet)
  • VIN of the vehicle
  • The part number off BOTH ECU labels (we pre-verify the match)
  • What is wrong now: original dead, cranks-no-start after swap, immobilizer no-start, etc.
  • Proof of ownership (title, registration, or bill of sale)
  • Your name, return address, and phone number

Frequently Asked

Still have a question? Text us — replies in minutes.

Why won't a used Fiat 500 ECU just start my car?
The engine ECU carries immobilizer and VIN data tied to the Body Computer (Fiat's CODE system) on the car it came from. A used unit still carries the donor car's identity, so yours cranks but won't start. Cloning copies your original ECU's identity onto the donor so it installs plug-and-play — the standard fix for a used-ECU swap.
What's the difference between cloning and immo-off?
Cloning keeps the factory immobilizer fully intact — it copies your original's security identity onto a donor so a used ECU works with your existing key. Immo-off turns the immobilizer function off inside the ECU, for legitimate repairs where the original security relationship can't be restored. A technician tells you which your job needs before you ship.
Do you do emissions deletes on the Fiat 500?
No — never. This service is immobilizer and identity work only. We do not perform DPF, EGR, catalyst, or tune deletes of any kind on any vehicle. If that's what you're after, this is not the service.
Do you supply the donor ECU?
No — you source a used donor (eBay, salvage yard, parts recycler) and we verify compatibility before you buy or ship anything. Match the part number on the label as closely as possible; send us photos of both labels plus your VIN and a technician confirms the pair will work.
My original ECU is completely dead — can you still help?
Cloning needs a readable original. If yours doesn't power up or respond, there's no data to copy from it. In that case an immo-off on a donor may be the path, depending on the platform — contact us with your VIN and symptoms and we map what's possible before you ship anything.
Do I need proof of ownership?
Yes — especially for immo-off work, proof of ownership (title, registration, or bill of sale) is required before we begin. This keeps the service legitimate for your own vehicle, a car you purchased, or a repair project, and the customer is responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal law.
Which Fiat 500 ECUs do you cover?
Magneti Marelli IAW on the 1.4L naturally aspirated cars, Bosch ME7.9.10 on the 1.4 T-Jet turbo (Abarth), and Bosch MED17 on MultiAir applications including the 500L and 500X. The 500e is verified case-by-case. Send your VIN and ECU label photo and we confirm before you ship.
How much is it and how does the mail-in work?
It is $350 flat. After a technician verifies your VIN and ECU part label, you ship the unit (and donor, if cloning) to Auto Module Lab. We clone or immo-off on the bench, test communication, and ship everything back with tracking — return speed your choice at checkout (Standard $29.95, UPS 2-Day $54.95, or UPS overnight $94.95).
