Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • You lost all smart keys and the car will not start (all keys lost)
  • Push-button start does not crank because no key is recognized
  • You bought a push-to-start Toyota/Lexus with no working key
  • The smart-key / certification ECU needs a working key generated
  • You need to add a working key on a supported smart-key system
  • Salvage or restoration project with the keys missing

Won't fix:

  • Does not repair a mechanical ignition, steering lock, or column fault
  • Does not fix a dead 12V battery or a no-start caused by charging/starter issues
  • Does not solve 2018+ FBS4 / online-seed systems without verification
  • Does not read a certification ECU that is internally dead (needs the donor clone service)
  • Does not cut or supply mechanical emergency blades
  • Does not guarantee registering extra keys to a live car without the vehicle present
  • Does not repair body-control, ECU, or wiring faults unrelated to the smart-key ECU
  • Does not bypass proof of ownership

All-keys-lost — proof of ownership required

Smart-key generation and all-keys-lost work is offered only for legitimate use: restoring your own vehicle, a purchased car, a repair, or a salvage/restoration project where legally permitted. Proof of ownership is required before we perform any key or immobilizer work, and a technician verifies fitment by VIN and module label before you ship. The customer is responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal law. Software key generation does not repair mechanical ignition, steering-lock, or column damage — those must be fixed separately.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

Verify first: text or email us your VIN and the smart-key / certification ECU part number (and proof of ownership) and a technician confirms your system is supported before you ship anything. Once verified, remove the Smart-Key / Certification ECU and ship it to PO Box 120241, Arlington TX 76012 if you ship USPS — or 1168 W Pioneer Parkway, Arlington TX 76013 if you ship UPS or FedEx (UPS and FedEx cannot deliver to a PO Box). We read it on the bench, generate the working key or reset the smart code, bench-test it, and ship it back via the return option you pick at checkout (Standard $14.95, UPS 2-Day $29.95, or UPS overnight $74.95).

What to include in your box

  • The Smart-Key / Certification ECU (immobilizer ID box) removed from the vehicle
  • Year, make, model, and trim (e.g. 2014 Toyota RAV4 push-to-start)
  • VIN of the vehicle
  • Proof of ownership (title, registration, or bill of sale)
  • A new OEM smart-key blank if you want an added working key programmed
  • Whether this is all-keys-lost or add-a-key
  • A clear photo of the ECU part-number label
  • Your name, return address, and phone number

Frequently Asked

Still have a question? Text us — replies in minutes.

Is this the same as cloning a spare key?
No. Cloning copies an existing working key or donor. This is true key generation: we read the smart-key / certification ECU EEPROM on the bench and generate a working smart key or reset the smart code so the car starts even when every key is lost.
Which years and models are supported?
Roughly 2010–2017 push-to-start Toyota and Lexus smart-key systems are the primary application. 2018-and-newer FBS4 / online-seed systems are verified case-by-case and may not be supported. A technician confirms your specific system by VIN and module label before you ship.
Do I need proof of ownership?
Yes. Proof of ownership (title, registration, or bill of sale) is required for any key or immobilizer work before we begin. This protects you and keeps the service legitimate for your own vehicle, a purchased car, or a restoration project.
What do I actually mail in?
You typically mail the smart-key / certification ECU (the immobilizer ID box) removed from the vehicle. If you want an added working key, include a new OEM smart-key blank and we program it to the ECU. Text or email us and a technician tells you exactly which module to send for your model.
Can you add extra keys later?
Sometimes. Once the car has a working key and is drivable, registering additional keys can require the vehicle on-site rather than a bench module. Ask us about your specific model — on many systems we can prepare an added key when you send the ECU and a blank together.
What if my certification ECU is dead?
If the certification ECU itself has failed internally, key generation on the bench may not be possible and a separate Toyota/Lexus certification ECU clone (donor) service applies instead — we clone your data onto a working donor ECU. Send us the details and a technician tells you which path fits.
Will this fix a car that still won't start after a new key?
This service restores a recognized key so the immobilizer allows start. It does not repair a dead 12V battery, a mechanical ignition or steering-lock fault, or a charging/starter no-start. Those are separate mechanical repairs and software cannot fix them.
Do you cut the mechanical emergency key blade?
No. We program the smart-key electronics to the ECU. Cutting the mechanical emergency blade for the door/glovebox is done by a local locksmith or dealer using your key code, separate from this bench service.
Is this a mail-in service?
Yes. After a technician verifies fitment (VIN + module label), you ship the smart-key / certification ECU to Auto Module Lab. We generate the working key on the bench, test it, and ship it back with tracking. Return-shipping speed is your choice at checkout.
How long does it take?
Bench turnaround is fast — most modules are read, programmed, tested, and shipped back promptly after they arrive. Total time depends on the return-shipping speed you select at checkout (Standard, UPS 2-Day, or UPS overnight).
