How is this different from your MED17/ME17 service?
Different ECU family. MED17/ME17 = newer Continental gas + diesel ECUs (2008+). EDC16 = older Bosch diesel-only ECUs (2004-2009). The bench process, tooling, and chip access are different, hence a separate service listing. Same flat $250.
Can you do this on a TDi engine swap (TDi into a non-TDi chassis)?
Yes. TDi-swap into VW/Audi or other VAG chassis is one of the most common reasons for this service — the cluster IMMO chain doesn't exist in the donor chassis, so removing it at the ECU level lets the engine run cleanly.
Will the glow plugs / preheat / EGR / DPF still work?
Yes. The IMMO delete is surgical — only the immobilizer authentication code is disabled. All diesel-specific systems (glow plugs, preheat cycle, EGR, DPF regen, particulate sensor) continue to function normally.
What about EGR / DPF delete?
EGR delete and DPF delete are emissions modifications that are illegal under the Clean Air Act for on-road vehicles. We don't perform those. IMMO delete is unrelated to emissions and is a routine bench-repair classification.
My TDi cluster is damaged from a prior locksmith attempt — will this fix it?
Yes. Same scenario as the MED17 service: when the cluster's IMMO chip is damaged, deleting the IMMO at the ECU level bypasses the cluster entirely. Engine starts with no working cluster needed.
