Fixes:
- Installed a used / junkyard Global A ECM and SPS won't program it to your VIN
- GM SPS / TIS2Web throws "module already programmed" or a VIN-mismatch error
- Used module is still married to the donor vehicle and rejects new programming
- Need a salvage ECM reset to virgin state before a dealer reflash
Won't fix:
- Programming the module to your VIN — we virginize; you (or your dealer) do the SPS write after
- Hardware-failed or water-damaged modules (we reset, not repair internal damage)
- Global B (2019+) modules — those use a different security model, text us to confirm
- Theft-relink / immobilizer key programming (separate service)

GM Global A modules store the VIN they were last programmed to. SPS2 / TIS2Web checks that VIN and refuses to reprogram a module that is already married to a different vehicle. Virginizing clears that marriage so the unit looks like a brand-new part — the only way to make a used ECM/module accept programming to your VIN without buying a new one from the dealer.
