How it works

Original reads: full clone onto the donorImmobilizer data copied — no on-car resetYou supply a matched donor

Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • Used Hyundai/Kia ECU cranks but never starts
  • ECU failing and you want a clean cloned replacement
  • Water or corrosion damage with a still-readable board
  • Avoiding a dealer immobilizer procedure by cloning instead

Won't fix:

  • Original ECU completely dead and unreadable — cloning needs a readable source
  • On-car immobilizer/smart-key registration — that is on-car work we do not do
  • No-starts from sensors, fuel, or wiring — diagnose first
  • Theft-damaged wiring/ignition repair — that is a different job

Boot-mode cloning, immobilizer included

Hyundai and Kia ECUs in the SIM2K and Kefico families are read in boot mode on the bench — the unit is opened and its data pulled directly. Cloning copies your original's complete data, immobilizer relationship and all, onto the donor, so the replacement is one the car already trusts. No on-car immobilizer procedure is part of this workflow; the marriage rides with the clone. The one prerequisite is that your original reads.

Frequently Asked

Still have a question? Text us — replies in minutes.

Is this an immobilizer reset?
No — it is a bench CLONE. We copy your original ECU's data, immobilizer relationship included, onto a donor. On-car immobilizer or smart-key registration is separate on-car work we do not offer. Because the clone carries your original's data, the car accepts it without an on-car reset in this workflow.
Which ECUs do you cover?
The common Continental SIM2K families (SIM2K-240, 241, 251) and Kefico ECUs, read in boot mode on the bench. That spans a large share of Elantra, Sonata, Tucson, Santa Fe, Optima, Sorento, Soul, and Sportage. Send your part number and we confirm before you ship.
What if my original is dead?
Cloning copies from a readable source, so a completely dead board cannot be cloned. If the unit will not read at all, this service cannot help and you would be on a dealer/programming path. Unsure? Tell us the symptoms before ordering.
What is boot mode?
It means the ECU is opened and its data read directly from the board, rather than through the OBD port. It is the reliable way to read these SIM2K and Kefico units for cloning, and it is why this is bench work rather than a plug-in job.
