What "plug-and-play" means.
No dealer programming should be needed when your original data is intact, the donor matches your module (same type, hardware and software family) and the rest of the car works. It isn't a promise that the car will start or run.
DuoSelect / Cambiocorsa TCU dead? A bare donor won't just drop in
Maserati's electro-actuated DuoSelect and Cambiocorsa gearboxes are run by a Magneti Marelli CFC controller that stores adaptation and configuration data for your specific car. A used TCU from a donor carries the wrong adaptation, so the gearbox mis-shifts or won't engage even though the module is healthy. Cloning copies your original's adaptation and config onto a variant-matched donor so the replacement behaves like your original. The donor must match the CFC variant exactly, clutch and actuator mechanical problems are a separate repair, and some cars still need a gearbox re-adaptation session after install — a technician tells you which case applies from your VIN and module label before you ship.
