Fixes:

Lost communication with the ECM/PCM.

Does not prove: Wiring, connectors, grounds and loss of module power all set this. Prove the ECM is powered and the bus is intact before condemning it.

P0601

Internal control module memory checksum error.

Does not prove: Points inside the module, but also follows an interrupted flash or a battery event during programming. Tell us if the truck was recently reflashed.

P0606

ECM/PCM processor fault.

Does not prove: A strong internal-fault indicator, though unstable supply voltage can produce it. Charging system and grounds first.

P062D

Fuel injector driver circuit performance, bank 1.

Does not prove: Drivers are inside the ECM on this generation, so this points here — but a shorted injector on that bank sets it too, with a healthy driver.

    Intake and visual inspection

    Your module is logged against your order, photographed as received, and opened. We look for the things that decide whether a repair is even sensible: liquid ingress, corrosion tracking, previous repair attempts, physical damage to the connector or housing, and burnt or lifted components.

    Power-up and communication test

    The module is powered on a bench harness and we confirm whether it comes up and communicates at all. A module that will not respond and one that responds but misbehaves are two different faults, and this is the step that separates them.

    Fault localisation under load

    We test the sections that actually fail on these modules rather than guessing from the code you arrived with — supply rails, driver outputs, and the circuits feeding them, measured with the module doing work rather than sitting idle. Intermittent faults get thermal cycling, because a joint that reads fine cold is exactly the joint that opens hot.

    Component-level repair

    Failed components are replaced and weak or cracked joints reworked. We repair the board you sent — this is not a swap-and-return. If a fault traces to something beyond economical repair, work stops here and you hear about it before anything is charged.

    Data preservation and verification

    Where the repair touches memory or requires a programming step, your existing calibration and learned data are read first and restored afterwards, so the module goes back configured to your truck rather than blank.

    Bench verification and return

    The repaired module is retested on the bench, including the specific function that failed, and thermally cycled again before it is signed off. It ships back in protective packaging with tracking, at the return speed you chose at checkout.

It is already married to your truck

Your module carries your VIN, your calibration, and the values it has learned over its life. Repairing it keeps every one of those. A donor module carries someone else's, which is why used units so often need a programming session before the truck will run properly — an extra step, an extra cost, and an extra thing to go wrong.

A used module is the same age as yours

The realistic alternative to repairing a fifteen-year-old module is a fifteen-year-old module out of another truck, with an unknown service history and the same components approaching the same end of life. Repairing yours targets the part that actually failed instead of rolling the dice on someone else's.

The failure is usually smaller than the part

These modules do not generally fail as a whole. They fail at a driver, a supply section, or a set of joints — a repairable area on an otherwise sound board. Replacing the entire module to fix that is the most expensive way to solve a small problem.

We inspect and test before we repair, and if a board is beyond economical recovery we tell you rather than doing the work anyway. You are never charged for a repair we cannot deliver, which is not a promise a salvage-yard module comes with.

An emissions-era truck brings its own diagnostic noise

The LMM was the first Duramax generation to carry a diesel particulate filter, and that adds a whole category of codes and driveability complaints that have nothing to do with the engine computer. A truck in a regeneration cycle, a clogged filter, or a failing aftertreatment sensor can all produce symptoms an owner reasonably reads as "the computer is bad". Before you pull the ECM, separate the two: aftertreatment faults are hardware problems in the exhaust system, and no amount of bench work on the module will fix them. Is my 2007 truck an LBZ or an LMM?
It depends on build date. The LBZ ran into early 2007 and the LMM took over partway through the year, so a 2007 model year alone does not settle it. The two use different ECMs and are not interchangeable. Send us your VIN before ordering and we will tell you which service you need.
The truck will not communicate at all — is the ECM definitely dead?
Not definitely, and this is worth ten minutes before you pull anything. No-communication is set just as readily by a broken bus wire, a corroded connector, a poor ground, or the module not being powered. Confirm battery voltage and ground at the ECM connector. If the module has power, a good ground, an intact bus, and still says nothing, then it is the prime suspect.
Does the DPF have anything to do with this?
Usually not. Aftertreatment problems — a loaded filter, a failing sensor, a regeneration that never completes — produce their own codes and their own driveability complaints, and they are exhaust-system hardware faults. Repairing the ECM does not fix them. We will help you separate the two before you spend money in the wrong place.
Will you delete the DPF or EGR while you have it?
No. We do not offer emissions deletes on any platform, we do not modify modules to disable emissions equipment, and that is not a policy we make exceptions to. This service fixes an electronics failure so the truck runs correctly as built.
Do I keep my calibration and VIN?
Yes. Where the repair touches memory we read your existing data first and restore it afterwards, so the module returns configured to your truck. Because it is still your module, there is nothing for the truck to relearn.
What happens if you cannot repair it?
We assess and test before doing repair work. If the board cannot be economically recovered we stop, tell you exactly what we found, and you are not charged for a repair we could not deliver. You can have the module back if you want it.
How long will my truck be down?
Typically 3-5 business days on our bench plus transit each way. The return speed is your choice at checkout — standard, UPS 2-Day or overnight — so you can compress the trip home when the truck is earning.
Can you repair an ECM out of a different truck?
We can repair it, but a donor module still carries the donor VIN and calibration and will need programming before it runs correctly in your truck. If your original still exists, repairing it is nearly always simpler and cheaper.
Is there a warranty on the work?
Yes — our standard 6-month workmanship warranty covering the repair we performed. It does not cover unrelated faults on the truck or a different area of the board failing later, and we will always tell you honestly which of those we think you have.
Do you take work from shops and fleets?
Yes, and a lot of our diesel volume is trade work. Use the shop as the return address, include a job number on the note, and we will text updates to the number you give us.
