Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • Rear lighting faults after a REM failure
  • Loss of fuel-pump control / no-run traced to the REM
  • REM communication faults or U-codes after a rear fault
  • Water intrusion in the rear corroded the REM
  • You installed a used donor REM and it won't match or communicate
  • You want your REM's config and coding carried onto healthy used hardware

Won't fix:

  • Does not include the donor REM — you source a part-number-matched used unit (we verify the numbers first)
  • Does not clone a completely dead or unreadable original — that REM cannot be read
  • Does not do an on-car dealer programming session — this is bench data transfer
  • Does not repair burnt or corroded rear harness, grounds, or connectors
  • Does not repair a mechanically failed fuel pump or rear lighting hardware
  • Does not fix faults caused by wiring, blown fuses, or bad grounds
  • Does not program a REM that a technician cannot confirm as supported by VIN

A used REM won't just drop in — it has to match

The REM is coded to the car it came from, so a junkyard rear module bolted in will typically throw communication and configuration faults instead of running the rear lights and fuel pump. Cloning your original REM's config and coding onto that donor makes it match your vehicle so it drops in and communicates. The donor must match your part number, a completely dead or unreadable original cannot be cloned, and this is bench data transfer — not an on-car dealer session, and not a repair of corroded rear harness or connectors. A technician verifies the donor and your REM by VIN and module label before you ship.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

Verify first: text or email us your VIN and REM part number off the module label and we confirm your platform and the donor match before you ship anything. Once verified, remove the REM (and the donor, if cloning) and ship it to PO Box 120241, Arlington TX 76012 if you ship USPS — or 1009 Oakwood Ln # 120241, Arlington TX 76012 if you ship UPS or FedEx (UPS and FedEx cannot deliver to a PO Box). We clone the data on the bench, test communication, and ship it back via the return option you pick at checkout (Standard $24.95, UPS 2-Day $54.95, or UPS overnight $94.95).

What to include in your box

  • Your original REM AND the part-number-matched donor REM (if cloning)
  • Year, make, model, and engine (e.g. 2012 Volvo XC70 3.2L)
  • VIN of the vehicle
  • REM part number off both case labels — we pre-verify the match
  • What is wrong now: rear lighting faults, fuel-pump control loss, no-comms, or a used-REM mismatch
  • Whether the original still powers up and communicates
  • Whether you are cloning or having a used REM matched to the car
  • A clear photo of the REM part-number label, plus your name, return address, and phone

Frequently Asked

Still have a question? Text us — replies in minutes.

What is the REM and what does it control?
The REM (Rear Electronic Module) is Volvo's rear body-control module on the P3 platform. It runs the rear lighting circuits, controls the fuel pump, and manages the rear body electronics, and it communicates on the module network. When it fails you can see rear-lighting faults, loss of fuel-pump control, or REM communication faults.
Which Volvos use this REM?
P3-platform S60, S80, V70, XC70, XC60, and XC90 from roughly 2007–2016. A technician confirms your exact REM by VIN and module label before you ship, and verifies that your donor is a part-number match.
Can I just bolt in a used REM from the junkyard?
Not on its own — a used REM is coded to its original car and will usually throw communication and configuration faults on yours. Cloning your original REM's config and coding onto that donor makes it match your vehicle so it drops in and communicates. The donor must match your part number.
My original REM is water-damaged — can you still clone it?
If it still powers up and can be read, usually yes. A completely dead or unreadable original cannot be cloned. Send us photos and your VIN and part number and we'll tell you whether yours is still readable before you ship.
How do I pick a compatible donor REM?
Match the REM part number on your original's case label as closely as possible — same part number is the goal. Send us your original's label photo and the donor listing before you buy and we confirm the match first, so you don't buy the wrong unit.
Will this fix my rear lights or fuel pump if the module is fine?
No. Cloning restores the REM's identity and coding, but it cannot repair a mechanically failed fuel pump, damaged rear lighting hardware, blown fuses, or a burnt or corroded rear harness. Those must be diagnosed and repaired separately.
Is this an on-car dealer programming session?
No. This is bench data transfer — we read your original REM and write its configuration and coding onto a matched donor on the bench. It is not an on-car dealer session; you install the finished, matched module yourself or have a shop install it.
How much is it, and is it a mail-in service?
It is $250 flat and a fast turnaround once your verified modules arrive. Yes, it is mail-in only — after we verify your platform and donor match by VIN and module label, you ship the REM (and donor, if cloning) to Auto Module Lab. We clone it on the bench, test communication, and ship it back with tracking. You choose your return-shipping speed at checkout — Standard $24.95, UPS 2-Day $54.95, or UPS overnight $94.95.
