Second-generation SRX (2.8L, 3.0L and 3.6L V6) with its own GM electronic brake control module, not shared with the Equinox

2010–2016 Cadillac SRX: what we see on the bench

From our bench

We have one SRX order open right now: a 2013 SRX with the 3.6L, ordered October 12, 2026. It has not been worked yet, so there is no result to report.

How common it is

In NHTSA's public complaint data, 8 of the 442 complaints filed about the 2015 SRX describe a failed ABS module (our count), all filed in 2023–2025, and 5 of those 8 say the module was discontinued or no longer made. NHTSA: 2015 Cadillac SRX complaints and recalls

The SRX does not share the Equinox or Terrain module. GM lists its own kits: 25896031 for 2010 (2.8L and 3.0L), 20842710 for 2011–2016, now discontinued, and 22783391 for some 2013–2016 3.6L cars. Read the label on your own module before ordering anything.

The 2010–2016 Cadillac SRX ABS codes, and what they usually mean

Seeing one of these on your scan tool? Here's what it usually points to on this vehicle.

C056D

Brake module hardware fault

A failure inside the module itself; a 2015 SRX owner's NHTSA complaint reports this code

C0110

Pump motor circuit malfunction

The pump-motor driver inside the module, or the pump motor itself

U0121

Lost communication with the ABS module

The module has gone quiet on the network; prove its power and ground first

C0035–C0050 (one wheel)

Wheel-speed sensor circuit at that corner

A sensor, tone ring or harness at that wheel, not the module

C0800

Module power circuit

Battery voltage, fuses or a ground; not a module verdict on its own

Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • ABS, brake and StabiliTrak warnings on at the same time
  • Anti-lock braking and traction control switched off
  • ABS and traction warnings from the moment the car starts
  • Warnings that come and go for a while before they stay on
  • Code C056D stored, a brake module hardware fault

Won't fix:

  • Wheel speed sensor failures (sensor replacement is on-car work)
  • Hydraulic pump or valve body mechanical failure (we repair electronics, not pump motors)
  • Brake line / fluid issues

Before you order

  • You diagnose, we service the module.

We don't have your car and we don't diagnose it. Order once you or your mechanic have confirmed this module is the cause. If the work is completed and the car still has the same symptom because of another fault, the work is still done — a bench re-test under warranty is free.

  • A clone copies what is in your module.

We transfer the data as we read it. If another shop or tool already worked on the module — an unfinished clone, a tune, a delete — that data can come across too. Tell us before you ship.

  • What "plug-and-play" means.

No dealer programming should be needed when your original data is intact, the donor matches your module (same type, hardware and software family) and the rest of the car works. It isn't a promise that the car will start or run.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

What to include in your box

  • Ship the electronic brake control module, not the hydraulic valve block, unless we ask for the whole unit. GM sells the SRX module as its own kit; if you're not sure which part comes off, text us a photo of the module and its label first.
  • Put your VIN and the part number from the module label in the box.
  • Unplug the module only with the ignition off, and don't pry it off the valve block.
  • If only the module comes off and the brake lines stay connected, nothing needs bleeding. If the whole ABS unit comes out, cap the lines and bleed the brakes after it goes back in, with a scan-tool automated bleed if air may have reached the hydraulic unit.
  • We email you a prepaid label to send it in. Pick standard, 2-day or overnight return at checkout.

2010–2016 Cadillac SRX FAQ

Vehicle-specific answers.

Why are the ABS, brake and StabiliTrak warnings on at once on my SRX?
Anti-lock braking, traction control and StabiliTrak all run off one controller, the electronic brake control module, so when it fails inside they switch off together. SRX owners describe exactly that in their NHTSA complaints, and one 2015 owner's mechanic read code C056D, a brake module hardware fault. A bad wheel-speed sensor can light the same lamps, so read the ABS codes before buying anything.
Can I still buy a new ABS module for a Cadillac SRX?
Often not. The 2011–2016 kit, 20842710, is marked discontinued, and the other two SRX kits, 25896031 and 22783391, are listed as unavailable because of a manufacturer supply shortage. Used and remanufactured modules are out there, but any replacement has to be programmed to your VIN, which is why repairing the module you already have is usually the practical fix.
How much does a Cadillac SRX ABS module repair cost?
$499 flat to repair your own module, plus return shipping from $29.95. If testing shows the processor or board is beyond repair, a replacement board with data transfer and programming is $1,050 in total, with what you paid credited, and we only order it after you approve. RepairPal estimates $736 to $850 for a dealer replacement on a 2013–2015 SRX, but GM lists the new kits as discontinued or unavailable.
Will the module need programming after the repair?
In most cases, no. We repair the module that came out of your SRX, so it keeps its VIN and calibration and goes back in plug-and-play. A new, used or remanufactured replacement is different: it has to be programmed to your VIN before it will run the system properly.
How long does the repair take?
About a week on the bench (2–3 business days with rush repair) at our Arlington TX workshop, plus shipping each way. Round-trip from anywhere in the US: typically about two weeks. If your module needs the replacement board, we tell you the timing when we quote it.
What exactly do I ship?
The electronic brake control module, with your VIN and the part number from its label. Don't send the hydraulic valve block unless we ask for it; if you're not sure which part comes off, text us a photo first. We email a prepaid label, so sending it to us costs nothing.
