2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK: what we see on the bench

From our bench

The Wrangler JK is our most common ABS job: 6 orders since June 2026, all 2012–2016 trucks. On the JK modules we finished testing this fall, three needed the replacement board, so on a 2014–2016 truck plan for that outcome as well as the $499 repair.

How common it is

In NHTSA's public complaint data, 92 of the 476 complaints filed about the 2015 Wrangler and 78 of the 461 about the 2016 describe an ABS module failure (our count), and almost all of them were filed in 2024–2026. NHTSA: 2015 Jeep Wrangler complaints and recalls

The JK used more than one ABS hardware family over its run (Bosch and ATE/Continental), and the label on the controller is the only reliable way to know which one your Jeep has. Mopar's service module for 2014–2018 trucks built after June 30, 2014 is 68259556AE.

The 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK ABS codes, and what they usually mean

Seeing one of these on your scan tool? Here's what it usually points to on this vehicle.

C2200

ABS control module internal failure

A failed driver stage, processor or memory inside the controller

C2116

ABS pump-motor supply voltage low

The pump-motor driver or relay inside the controller; the stuck-pump, dead-battery case

U0121

Lost communication with the ABS module

The controller has gone quiet on the bus; prove power and ground at its connector first

C2100

Controller supply voltage out of range

Battery, charging or a ground; not a module verdict on its own

C1xxx (one wheel)

Wheel-speed sensor circuit at that corner

A sensor, tone ring, hub or harness at that wheel, not the module

Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • ABS, ESP/BAS and traction-control lights on at the same time
  • Stability control and traction control switched off
  • The ABS pump keeps running, or the battery is flat in the morning (the C2116 stuck-pump case)
  • Cruise control stops working along with the lights
  • Code C2200 comes straight back after it is cleared

Won't fix:

  • Wheel speed sensor failures (sensor replacement is on-car work)
  • Hydraulic pump or valve body mechanical failure (we repair electronics, not pump motors)
  • Brake line / fluid issues

Before you order

  • You diagnose, we service the module.

We don't have your car and we don't diagnose it. Order once you or your mechanic have confirmed this module is the cause. If the work is completed and the car still has the same symptom because of another fault, the work is still done — a bench re-test under warranty is free.

  • A clone copies what is in your module.

We transfer the data as we read it. If another shop or tool already worked on the module — an unfinished clone, a tune, a delete — that data can come across too. Tell us before you ship.

  • What "plug-and-play" means.

No dealer programming should be needed when your original data is intact, the donor matches your module (same type, hardware and software family) and the rest of the car works. It isn't a promise that the car will start or run.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

What to include in your box

  • Ship the electronic controller, not the hydraulic block, unless we ask for the whole unit. If you're not sure which part comes off, text us a photo of the module and its label first.
  • Put your VIN and the part number from the module label in the box.
  • The unit sits near the brake fluid reservoir. Taking only the electronic controller off the hydraulic block leaves the brake lines closed, so no bleed is needed; if the whole unit comes out, cap the lines and bleed the brakes after it goes back in.
  • After reinstall, connect a scan tool, clear the stored codes and run the ABS Verification Test. The repaired module keeps its coding, so there is no programming, but FCA calls for that test and code C2200 stays latched until it runs.
  • We email you a prepaid label to send it in. Pick standard, 2-day or overnight return at checkout.

2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK FAQ

Vehicle-specific answers.

Why are the ABS, ESP/BAS and traction lights all on at once on my Wrangler JK?
All three systems run off one controller, the ABS module in the engine bay, so when it fails inside they all switch off together. On a JK that is most often the module itself, usually with code C2200 or C2116. A bad wheel-speed sensor can light the same lamps, but it normally sets a code that names one wheel, so read the ABS codes before buying anything.
How much does a Jeep Wrangler JK ABS module repair cost?
$499 flat to repair your own module, plus return shipping from $29.95. If testing shows the processor or board is beyond repair, a replacement board with data transfer and programming is $1,050 in total, with what you paid credited, and we only order it after you approve. For comparison, RepairPal estimates $1,732 to $1,829 for a dealer replacement on a 2015 Wrangler.
Will the module need programming after the repair?
No programming, but plan on a scan-tool step. We repair the module that came out of your Jeep, so it keeps its own coding and goes back in without programming. FCA still calls for a scan tool to clear the stored codes and run the ABS Verification Test after it is reinstalled, because code C2200 stays latched until then. A new or used replacement module is different: it has to be programmed to your VIN before the lights go out.
Is there a recall on the Wrangler JK ABS module?
NHTSA lists no ABS recall for the 2014–2018 Wrangler, so the repair is on the owner. The failure is common, though: in NHTSA's complaint data, 92 of the 476 complaints about the 2015 Wrangler describe an ABS module failure, by our count.
How long does the repair take?
About a week on the bench (2–3 business days with rush repair) at our Arlington TX workshop, plus shipping each way. Round-trip from anywhere in the US: typically about two weeks. If your module needs the replacement board, we tell you the timing when we quote it.
What exactly do I ship?
The electronic controller from the ABS unit, with your VIN and the part number from its label. Don't send the hydraulic block unless we ask for it; if you're not sure which part comes off, text us a photo first. We email a prepaid label, so sending it to us costs nothing.
