Buick LeSabre and Park Avenue, Cadillac DeVille and Pontiac Bonneville (2000–2005), Cadillac Seville (2000–2004) and Oldsmobile Aurora (2001–2003): one GM hydraulic unit, with the electronic module bolted to it

2000–2005 Buick LeSabre, Cadillac DeVille & GM Sedans: what we see on the bench

From our bench

None of our ABS orders so far has been one of these GM sedans (our order records start in June 2026), so this page is built from GM's parts listings and the published sources below rather than from our own bench results. Text us your codes and a photo of the module's label before you order.

How common it is

NHTSA's complaint file says little about a failed module on these cars: 7 of the 322 complaints about the 2002 LeSabre and 2 of the 162 about the 2004 mention ABS, and none confirms a failed module (our count). One 2001 owner reports simply that the ABS module failed at 42,000 miles. NHTSA complaint data: 2002 Buick LeSabre

GM's hydraulic unit for these cars, brake pressure modulator valve 19416835 (it replaced 25720865 and 25698057), fits exactly the 2000–2005 LeSabre, Park Avenue, DeVille and Bonneville, the 2000–2004 Seville and the 2001–2003 Aurora, which is how we know they share the system. The electronic brake control module bolts to it and carries its own GM number: read that label, not the hydraulic unit's, before ordering anything. The 1996–1999 DeVille and Seville used a different system.

The 2000–2005 Buick LeSabre, Cadillac DeVille & GM Sedans ABS codes, and what they usually mean

Seeing one of these on your scan tool? Here's what it usually points to on this vehicle.

C1214

Solenoid valve relay circuit open

A relay circuit inside the module: a bench repair once battery voltage and the connector check out (low voltage has its own code, C1236)

C1255

EBCM internal malfunction

Points at the module itself

C1221–C1235

Wheel-speed sensor: speed zero, erratic, or circuit open or shorted, by corner

A sensor, hub sensor or wiring, not the module. On one LeSabre the sensor and hub were replaced without curing a front code, so test the circuit, not only the part

C1236 / C1237

System supply voltage low / high

Battery, charging or connector, not the module: LeSabre owners report ABS lights together with charging trouble

Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • ABS and traction-control lights on, often coming and going at first
  • The lights on while the car otherwise drives and brakes normally
  • Code C1214 (relay circuit) or C1255 (module internal fault) stored

Won't fix:

  • Wheel speed sensor failures (sensor replacement is on-car work)
  • Hydraulic pump or valve body mechanical failure (we repair electronics, not pump motors)
  • Brake line / fluid issues

Before you order

  • You diagnose, we service the module.

We don't have your car and we don't diagnose it. Order once you or your mechanic have confirmed this module is the cause. If the work is completed and the car still has the same symptom because of another fault, the work is still done — a bench re-test under warranty is free.

  • A clone copies what is in your module.

We transfer the data as we read it. If another shop or tool already worked on the module — an unfinished clone, a tune, a delete — that data can come across too. Tell us before you ship.

  • What "plug-and-play" means.

No dealer programming should be needed when your original data is intact, the donor matches your module (same type, hardware and software family) and the rest of the car works. It isn't a promise that the car will start or run.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

What to include in your box

  • 2000 model year (or a 2001 Aurora): check recall 00V-114 by VIN before you pay for anything.
  • Ship the electronic module only; it unbolts from the hydraulic unit, which stays on the car. Read the label on the module itself: the hydraulic unit carries a different GM number (19416835).
  • With a voltage code (C1236 or C1237), fix the battery or charging first; with a wheel-speed code, test that sensor and its wiring.
  • Put your VIN, the codes and the number from the label in the box. Taking only the module off leaves the brake lines closed, so no bleed is needed; if the whole unit comes out, bleed the brakes after it goes back in.
  • We email you a prepaid label to send it in. Pick standard, 2-day or overnight return at checkout.

2000–2005 Buick LeSabre, Cadillac DeVille & GM Sedans FAQ

Vehicle-specific answers.

Why are the ABS and traction lights on?
The brake control module runs anti-lock braking and traction control, so a fault inside it turns both off and lights the warnings; C1214 (a relay circuit) or C1255 (an internal fault) points at the module. Wheel-speed codes (C1221 to C1235) point at a sensor or its wiring, and voltage codes (C1236, C1237) at the battery or charging system.
How much does the repair cost?
$499 flat to repair your own module, plus return shipping from $29.95. If testing shows the processor or board is beyond repair, a replacement board with data transfer and programming is $1,050 in total, with what you paid credited, and we only order it after you approve. For comparison, RepairPal estimates $1,028 to $1,099 for a dealer or shop replacement on a LeSabre.
Is there a recall?
On 2000 cars and the 2001 Aurora, yes: recall 00V-114 covers internal fluid leaks in the brake hydraulic unit, and dealers inspect it and replace it free where needed. It covers the hydraulic unit, not the electronic module, but check your VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup first.
Which cars share this unit?
GM lists one hydraulic unit, 19416835, for the 2000–2005 LeSabre, Park Avenue, DeVille and Bonneville, the 2000–2004 Seville and the 2001–2003 Aurora. The electronic module's own number varies, so text us a photo of its label.
How long does the repair take?
About a week on the bench (2–3 business days with rush repair) at our Arlington TX workshop, plus shipping each way. Round-trip from anywhere in the US: typically about two weeks. If your module needs the replacement board, we tell you the timing when we quote it.
Does this fit the C5 Corvette?
The 2001–2004 C5 Corvette has its own GM module numbers, and ECU Testing, a UK module specialist, ties its common codes C1214 and C1255 to an internal module failure. Text us the label and the codes, and we confirm before you order.
What exactly do I ship?
The electronic brake control module, with your VIN, the codes and the number from its label. Leave the hydraulic unit on the car. We email a prepaid label, so sending it to us costs nothing.
