2005–2016 Ford F-250 / F-350 Super Duty: what we see on the bench

From our bench

None of our ABS orders so far has been a 2005–2016 Super Duty (our order records start in June 2026), so this page is built from Ford parts listings and the published sources below rather than from our own bench results. Text us your codes and a photo of the module's label before you order.

How common it is

NHTSA's complaint file says little about this failure: 1 of the 338 complaints about the 2008 F-250 and 1 of the 116 about the 2013 mention ABS (our count), and neither names the module. NHTSA complaint data: 2008 Ford F-250

Ford sells the ABS electronic control module on its own as base number 2C219, a box of about 1.3 to 3.2 lb that bolts to the hydraulic pump and valve unit: 6C3Z-2C219-AC on the 2007 F-250, 7C3Z-2C219-A (now AC3Z-2C219-A) on the 2009, and DC3Z-2C219-A, -B or -C on the 2013, for example. The number changes with the year and the truck's equipment, so read the 2C219 number on your own module before ordering anything.

The 2005–2016 Ford F-250 / F-350 Super Duty ABS codes, and what they usually mean

Seeing one of these on your scan tool? Here's what it usually points to on this vehicle.

U0121

Lost communication with the ABS module

Set by the other modules when the ABS module goes silent; check its fuses, power, ground and connector first

Network down

Several modules unreachable, sometimes with a no-crank and the theft light

On a 2010 F-250 in a published shop case, the ABS module was dragging the network down: unplugging it brought everything back, and two terminals in its plug had melted

Wheel-speed sensor (one corner)

Sensor, tone ring or wiring at one wheel

Test that sensor and its wiring first; several corners at once, or no communication, point at the module

Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • ABS warning light on and staying on, often with the traction-control light
  • A scan tool that cannot reach the ABS module, with its fuses, power and ground checked
  • A no-crank with the theft light on and a whine with the key off, traced to the ABS module jamming the network

Won't fix:

  • Wheel speed sensor failures (sensor replacement is on-car work)
  • Hydraulic pump or valve body mechanical failure (we repair electronics, not pump motors)
  • Brake line / fluid issues

Before you order

  • You diagnose, we service the module.

We don't have your car and we don't diagnose it. Order once you or your mechanic have confirmed this module is the cause. If the work is completed and the car still has the same symptom because of another fault, the work is still done — a bench re-test under warranty is free.

  • A clone copies what is in your module.

We transfer the data as we read it. If another shop or tool already worked on the module — an unfinished clone, a tune, a delete — that data can come across too. Tell us before you ship.

  • What "plug-and-play" means.

No dealer programming should be needed when your original data is intact, the donor matches your module (same type, hardware and software family) and the rest of the car works. It isn't a promise that the car will start or run.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

What to include in your box

  • Ship the electronic control module, not the hydraulic pump and valve unit, unless we ask for it. Ford sells the module on its own, and packing the heavy pump with it can damage the module in transit.
  • Look at the module's plug before you ship: on a 2010 F-250 in a published shop case two terminals in it had melted. A damaged connector has to be repaired on the truck as well.
  • Read the 2C219 number on the label and send it with your VIN and the codes. Taking only the module off leaves the brake lines closed, so no bleed is needed; if the whole unit comes out, bleed the brakes after it goes back in.
  • We email you a prepaid label to send it in. Pick standard, 2-day or overnight return at checkout.

2005–2016 Ford F-250 / F-350 Super Duty FAQ

Vehicle-specific answers.

Why is the ABS light on my Super Duty?
The ABS module runs anti-lock braking and traction control from the wheel-speed signals, so a fault inside it switches both off and lights the warnings. A code that names one wheel points at that sensor or its wiring; no communication with the module, once its fuses, power and ground check out, points at the module.
How much does a Super Duty ABS module repair cost?
$499 flat to repair your own module, plus return shipping from $29.95. If testing shows the processor or board is beyond repair, a replacement board with data transfer and programming is $1,050 in total, with what you paid credited, and we only order it after you approve. For comparison, RepairPal estimates $756 to $811 for a dealer or shop replacement on an F-250 Super Duty, and $555 to $600 on 2013–2016 trucks.
Is a new module cheaper?
For a 2013 truck it can be: Ford lists the module alone at $310.49 to $557.66 online. Whether a new one needs setting up at a dealer on these trucks we could not confirm. Our repair keeps your own module and its coding, so compare the total for your truck before you choose.
Can the ABS module stop the truck from starting?
It can make it look that way. On a 2010 F-250 in a published shop case, the truck would not crank, the theft light was on and something whined with the key off; the ABS module was jamming the network, and the truck ran as soon as it was unplugged. Two terminals in its plug had melted, so the connector needed repair as well as the module.
How long does the repair take?
About a week on the bench (2–3 business days with rush repair) at our Arlington TX workshop, plus shipping each way. Round-trip from anywhere in the US: typically about two weeks. If your module needs the replacement board, we tell you the timing when we quote it.
Does this fit the F-450, the F-550 or the E-Series?
Those trucks and vans use their own Ford numbers, so text us a photo of the label and we confirm before you order.
Is there a recall on the Super Duty ABS module?
Not that we found. NHTSA's recalls for the 2005–2016 F-250 and F-350 include none for the ABS module or the hydraulic unit. Check your own VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup.
What exactly do I ship?
The electronic ABS control module, with your VIN, the codes and the 2C219 number from its label. Leave the hydraulic pump and valve unit on the truck. We email a prepaid label, so sending it to us costs nothing.
