2006–2012 Dodge Ram 1500: what we see on the bench

From our bench

None of our ABS orders so far has been a 2006–2012 Ram 1500 (our order records start in June 2026), so this page is built from Mopar's parts listings and the published sources below rather than from our own bench results. On the 2014–2015 Rams our bench has seen, the label showed a different unit than the year suggested, so text us your codes and a photo of the module's label before you order.

How common it is

ABS module failure is rare in NHTSA's public complaints for these years: 0 of the 534 complaints about the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 and 1 of the 487 about the 2010 describe a failed ABS module (our count). Owners of the 2010 also report the same lights from other parts: a failed wireless ignition node, the under-hood power block and a fuel-pump failure. NHTSA complaint data: 2010 Dodge Ram 1500

Mopar lists the ABS control module by year: 5175414AB for 2006, 55366355AF (now 55366355AI) for 2007 and 55398729AP (now 5154215AA) for 2010. For 2011–2012 the part we found, 68061772AA, is the hydraulic control unit, not the module. On the 2014–2015 Rams our bench has seen, the label showed a different unit than the year suggested, so read the label on your own module before ordering anything.

The 2006–2012 Dodge Ram 1500 ABS codes, and what they usually mean

Seeing one of these on your scan tool? Here's what it usually points to on this vehicle.

C2200

ABS module internal failure

Chrysler's code for a fault inside the ABS module itself: a bench repair once the power and ground at its connector check out

U0121

Lost communication with the ABS module

Set by the other modules when the ABS module goes silent; check its fuses, power, ground and connector first

Lights with other faults

ABS and traction lights together with a no-start, a stuck shifter or fuel trouble

Owners of the 2010 report these lights from a failed wireless ignition node, the under-hood power block and a fuel-pump failure (NHTSA complaints), so read the codes in every module, not only the ABS

Wheel-speed sensor (one corner)

Sensor, tone ring or wiring at one wheel

Test that sensor and its wiring first; several corners at once, or no communication, point at the module

Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • ABS, traction-control and ESP lights on together, with a code that points inside the module
  • A scan tool that cannot reach the ABS module, with its power and ground checked
  • Code C2200 (ABS module internal failure) stored

Won't fix:

  • Wheel speed sensor failures (sensor replacement is on-car work)
  • Hydraulic pump or valve body mechanical failure (we repair electronics, not pump motors)
  • Brake line / fluid issues

Before you order

  • You diagnose, we service the module.

We don't have your car and we don't diagnose it. Order once you or your mechanic have confirmed this module is the cause. If the work is completed and the car still has the same symptom because of another fault, the work is still done — a bench re-test under warranty is free.

  • A clone copies what is in your module.

We transfer the data as we read it. If another shop or tool already worked on the module — an unfinished clone, a tune, a delete — that data can come across too. Tell us before you ship.

  • What "plug-and-play" means.

No dealer programming should be needed when your original data is intact, the donor matches your module (same type, hardware and software family) and the rest of the car works. It isn't a promise that the car will start or run.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

What to include in your box

  • A 2006 truck with four-wheel ABS: check recall 06V-038 by VIN first; on the trucks it covers, dealers replace the ABS control unit free.
  • Ship the electronic module, not the hydraulic unit, unless we ask for it; the hydraulic unit stays on the truck. Mopar sells the two under separate numbers, so read the label on the module itself.
  • If the ABS pump keeps running, pull the ABS fuse so the motor does not burn out, then text us the codes.
  • Put your VIN, the codes and the number from the label in the box. Taking only the module off leaves the brake lines closed, so no bleed is needed; if the whole unit comes out, bleed the brakes after it goes back in.
  • We email you a prepaid label to send it in. Pick standard, 2-day or overnight return at checkout.

2006–2012 Dodge Ram 1500 FAQ

Vehicle-specific answers.

Why are the ABS, traction and ESP lights all on at once on my Ram?
One ABS control module runs anti-lock braking, traction control and stability control (ESP), so when it fails inside they switch off together and the lights come on; code C2200 points inside the module. On these trucks the same lights also come from other faults: 2010 owners told NHTSA about a failed wireless ignition node, the under-hood power block and a fuel-pump failure. Read the codes in every module before buying anything.
How much does a Ram 1500 ABS module repair cost?
$499 flat to repair your own module, plus return shipping from $29.95. If testing shows the processor or board is beyond repair, a replacement board with data transfer and programming is $1,050 in total, with what you paid credited, and we only order it after you approve. For comparison, RepairPal estimates $753 to $790 for a dealer or shop replacement on a Ram 1500, and $497 to $739 on 2006–2009 trucks, by year.
Why $499, when a new module can cost less?
On some years it can. Mopar lists a new 2007 module at $339 (about $229 online), and RepairPal's estimates for 2006–2009 trucks run $497 to $739 installed. Our repair keeps your own module and its coding, goes back in plug-and-play in most cases and carries a 1-year warranty; if a new module is cheaper for your year and your shop can fit it, that is a fair choice too, so compare before you order.
Is there a recall on the Ram ABS module?
On 2006 trucks, yes: recall 06V-038 covers 2006 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups (and the 2006 Dakota) with four-wheel ABS, for a brake-balance fault in the ABS control unit, and dealers replace the unit free. NHTSA lists no ABS recall for the 2007–2012 Ram 1500. Check your own VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup.
How long does the repair take?
About a week on the bench (2–3 business days with rush repair) at our Arlington TX workshop, plus shipping each way. Round-trip from anywhere in the US: typically about two weeks. If your module needs the replacement board, we tell you the timing when we quote it.
Which ABS unit does my truck have?
The label decides. Mopar changes the module number by year (5175414AB for 2006, 55366355AF for 2007, 55398729AP for 2010), and for 2011–2012 the number we found is the hydraulic unit, not the module. If your label says Kelsey-Hayes, it is our $325 Kelsey-Hayes 325 repair instead, and 2013–2018 trucks have their own page. Text us a photo of the label.
What exactly do I ship?
The electronic ABS control module, with your VIN, the codes and the number from its label. Leave the hydraulic unit on the truck unless we ask for it. We email a prepaid label, so sending it to us costs nothing.
