2009–2015 Honda Pilot: what we see on the bench
From our bench
None of our ABS orders so far has been a Honda (our order records start in June 2026), so this page is built from Honda's parts listings and the published sources below rather than from our own bench results. Text us a photo of your unit's label and your codes before you order.
How common it is
NHTSA's complaint file says little about this failure: 3 of the 111 complaints about the 2010 Pilot and 1 of the 171 about the 2012 mention ABS or VSA, and none describes a confirmed modulator failure (our count). NHTSA complaint data: 2010 Honda Pilot
Honda sells the VSA modulator as one assembly per drivetrain: 57110-SZA numbers for 4WD and 57110-SZB numbers for 2WD, with -A03 for 2009–2011 and -A12 for 2012–2015, listed at $2,887.69 to $3,698.01. The Acura MDX and the Honda Ridgeline use their own numbers, so read the label on your own unit before ordering anything.

The 2009–2015 Honda Pilot ABS codes, and what they usually mean
Seeing one of these on your scan tool? Here's what it usually points to on this vehicle.
Wheel sensor short or open: right front, left front, right rear, left rear
The sensor or its harness, not the modulator: Honda replaces the control unit only if the code returns after the sensor is replaced and the connections checked
Wheel sensor electrical noise or intermittent signal
Inspect the sensor and its magnetic encoder first; if the same code returns, Honda's conclusion is the modulator-control unit
ABS solenoid valve malfunction
The valve-driver circuits in the control unit: a bench repair once the sensors, wiring and power are ruled out
VSA solenoid valve malfunction
Also the control unit's valve drivers
An engine misfire, not the brake unit
Read the engine codes first: Honda extended the warranty on engine misfires for 2009–2013 Pilots (A13-082), and the VSA light follows the engine fault

Will This Fix My Problem?
Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.
Fixes:
- VSA and ABS indicators on together, with a code that comes back after the wheel sensors check out
- The VSA light on solid and staying on
- ABS or VSA solenoid-valve codes (32-11 to 38-11, 121-11 to 124-11) from the valve drivers inside the control unit
Won't fix:
- Wheel speed sensor failures (sensor replacement is on-car work)
- Hydraulic pump or valve body mechanical failure (we repair electronics, not pump motors)
- Brake line / fluid issues
Before you order
You diagnose, we service the module.
We don't have your car and we don't diagnose it. Order once you or your mechanic have confirmed this module is the cause. If the work is completed and the car still has the same symptom because of another fault, the work is still done — a bench re-test under warranty is free.
A clone copies what is in your module.
We transfer the data as we read it. If another shop or tool already worked on the module — an unfinished clone, a tune, a delete — that data can come across too. Tell us before you ship.
What "plug-and-play" means.
No dealer programming should be needed when your original data is intact, the donor matches your module (same type, hardware and software family) and the rest of the car works. It isn't a promise that the car will start or run.
Shipping Instructions
These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.
What to include in your box
- Ship the electronic control unit, not the pump, unless we ask for the whole modulator; the pump and its brake lines stay on the vehicle. If you're not sure which part comes off, text us a photo first.
- Two metal contact prongs join the control unit to the pump and can come away with it: put them back on the pump side before you reconnect the unit, or they bend and short.
- Rule out the wheel-speed sensors, their wiring and the unit's power and ground first; Honda's procedure ends at the sensor or harness unless the code returns.
- Put your VIN, the codes and the number from the label in the box. Taking only the control unit off leaves the brake lines closed, so no bleed is needed; if the whole modulator comes out, bleed the brakes after it goes back in.
- We email you a prepaid label to send it in. Pick standard, 2-day or overnight return at checkout.
